Unravelling and weaving, sometimes simultaneously

Against the odds you opened up your heart;
you took the risk and stood out in the rain.
No matter what the outcome, from the start
you were not bent by memory of pain.

A brave move, to take on another storm
not knowing if it was for loss or gain;
the draw of love and hope was sweet and warm,
much larger than the memory of pain.

The lightning, thunder, flash floods in your soul
scoured away each tear, each salted stain
so that you felt much cleaner, on the whole,
and less subject to memory of pain.

In singing a new song with fresh refrain
you silenced chorused memory of pain.
